Gellibrand River EstuaryWatch Group

Gellibrand River Estuary Watch

What We Do:

The Gellibrand River EstuaryWatch Group are the most westerly EstuaryWatch group in the region and started monitoring this large and beautiful estuary in May 2007. The group is made up of dedicated locals, many who live adjacent to the estuary. The Gellibrand is a large and diverse system and monitoring sites are distributed along its length, including one on the Latrobe Creek mouth where it enters the Gellibrand estuary.. The estuary is monitored in order to gain a better understanding of what and how their local estuary changes naturally over time (i.e. from hours to decades) and which changes are caused by human impacts, as well as provide a baseline to compare future measurements to.
