Coast Action/Coastcare South GippslandWhat We Do:Funded by the government, Coast Action/Coastcare proudly supports thousands of community volunteer groups working to protect and enhance Victoria's 2000 kilometres of coastline. Community volunteer groups help to maintain our marine and coastal environment, through activities such as revegetating coastal areas, building boardwalks, fencing, building tracks, monitoring native shorebirds and animals, presenting education and awareness raising sessions, plantings, landscaping coastal areas and protecting cultural sites. There will always be a need for dedicated volunteers on our coast, and there are roles for people of all ages, interests and abilities. Coast Action/Coastcare also provide opportunities for communities to learn about marine and coastal environments through activities and events such as Summer by the Sea, Coastcare Week, World Environment Day and Fun4Kids Festival, as well as training opportunities to gain skills for on ground work. To join a community group or learn more about our magnificent coastal and marine environment, contact a coastaction/coastcare facilitator. There are regionally-based facilitators in Warrnambool, Angelsea, Geelong, Box Hill, Yarram and Bairnsdale. Contact:Yarram, 3971 Bruce Atkin: (03) 5183 9116 |
